Into the Crucible - Burrell Observatory Lecture

Dr. Jeffrey A. Balcerski, senior researcher, Ohio Aerospace Institute, will present "Into the Crucible: The Next Era of Venus Surface Exploration" on the Venus simulation facility, Glenn Extreme Environment Rig (GEER), and advances that will enable a new generation of surface exploration.

Venus is the most inhospitable environment of any of the terrestrial planets. GEER is the world's leading Venus simulation facility, allowing science experiments and exploration technologies to experience the crucible of Venus without leaving Earth.

After the lecture, the Burrell Observatory will be open for viewing, weather permitting.

For questions, contact Gary Kader, observatory director, at gkader@bw.edu or the Department of Physics and Astronomy at 440-826-2312.
